June Newsletter
Summer is almost here! You have probably already dug out your favorite pair of shorts and restocked on sunblock for those upcoming beach days. In Florida, summer also means we have begun hurricane season. We have seen how our community comes together to support each other in the aftermath of natural disaster, which is a beautiful thing to see and we know they will be there when we need them. But instead of waiting until it's too late, let's work together to stay ahead of disaster to ease any potential damage and ensure our family's safety. Read this month's Patterson Group Newsletter for important hurricane preparedness tips.

Prepare for the 2023 Hurricane Season
Preparing Your Home
- Buy plywood in advance to board up windows in the event a warning is issued.
- Keep trees and shrubs trimmed BEFORE a hurricane warning is issued. Once a warning is in effect, trash pickup is suspended and loose debris can become dangerous in high winds.
- Lower pool water levels by 6-12 inches and add extra chlorine to prevent contamination. Turn off electricity to equipment and cover pool pump if exposed.
- Store or secure any loose items outside of the home (bikes, potted plants, etc.)
- Turn fridge and freezer to the coldest setting and only open when necessary.
Non-Negotiable Supplies
- One gallon of water per person in your household per day, three day supply. Extra for pets, food prep, and sanitation.
- Basic groceries (bread, peanut butter, canned goods, protein bars, pet food, etc.)
- Ice chest and ice.
- Disposable plates, cups, utensils, and a manual can opener.
- First aid kit and essential medications / medical supplies.
- Basic tools (hammer, nails, screwdriver, utility knife, pliers, etc.) and duct tape.
- Extra clothing and essential toiletries.
- Battery-powered radio and flashlights, including additional batteries.
- Cash in the event that ATMs in the area are out of operation.
- Copies of personal documents (birth certificates, social security cards, passports, marriage license, etc.)
- Inventory of valuable household items, including pictures if possible.

Keller Williams Red Day 2023 Every year KW offices all over the country dedicate the 2nd Thursday in May to helping in their community. This year our brokerage, Keller Williams Peace River Partners Realty, spent TWO DAYS giving back! They raised $10,000 and volunteered at Camelot Community Care by helping them redo their transition rooms and donating items to help with the foster kids. Two days later, they spent time at the Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens, getting the property ready and setting up for a FUN afternoon for the foster kids to enjoy Bounce Houses, games, pizza & ice cream! Our Patterson Group family is already looking forward to next year! |

Understanding the Hurricane Scale
The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale categorizes the severity of an impending hurricane with the numbers one through five, based solely on wind speed. This scale does not take into account other aspects just as storm surge or flooding. |

Client Testimony "Brooks was a joy to work with when purchasing a condo in Florida! We had looked at the condo while wintering there and returned home before actually purchasing. He was available day and evening for all of our questions and concerns. Once our offer was accepted he didn’t stop there. He assisted with the Condo Association application and put us in touch with an insurance agent. With our many texts, calls, and questions, Brooks was professional and considerate! Thank you, Brooks for all of your help and patience." Ray & Trudy | May 2023 |
